Are we there yet?

Doc appointment yesterday = no progress + many Braxton Hicks. Doc said she'd induce at 42 weeks which seems like forever away considering I'm just 39 tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Hiccups all the time!

For the past few weeks Baby Abbey has consistently had the hiccups about 2-3 times a day. At first it was a tiny little movement, but now it's becoming much more pronounced. They are now so dramatic that you can see my belly shake from the outside!

Research is a bit mixed (but according to a quick Google search), hiccupping in utereo may help to develop motor patterns baby will need for swallowing and eating after birth. Other research suggests hiccups prepare for breathing and may help strengthen the diaphragm muscle. So in addition to it being entertaining it sounds like baby will have some strong lungs!

37.5 Week Update

Just had a doctor's appointment today and the only news I received is that baby is about 6 1/2 to 7 pounds and is head down. So that's good news! Not much else to report other than I had an extremly vivid dream last night that we had a boy. We'll see!

Feeling Large and in Charge!

I have my Chicago baby shower this weekend kindly thrown by D's family and my problem is I've rapidly increased in size lately. Not quite sure how I'm going to pull off the cute pregnant girl look when my feet are huge barely fitting into my fat girl shoes, my fake wedding band from Nordstrom's hardly fits over my huge knuckles and I've got only about 3 pair of pants left that fit and don't make me look like a sausage. Whoever said pregnancy gives women a glow seriously weren't talking about the last few weeks of this adventure! I'm not sure how many photos I'll allow considering I feel like the Stay Puff marshmellow man.

Full term at 37 weeks!

At 37 weeks Baby Abbey is officially considered full term and is the size of a watermelon - what?! This does mean that if baby were to arrive today all would be good. However, the longer baby is in the oven the better as it continues to perfect blinking, sucking, inhaling and exhaling. I must say I am ready to go at this point though!

One Month and Counting!

Here's a recent photo from 35 weeks which is a bit before the one month point. We're getting excited and can't wait for Baby Abbey's arrival! Went to the doctor this week and she said nothing has progressed but if labor started they wouldn't stop anything. Getting a bit more achy and puffy but I guess that's to be expected. Braxton Hicks contractions are starting up which is interesting. I guess just good practice for the real thing!

Doug and I went on a brief little Babymoon this weekend to the American Club in Kohler. We had a nice time getting away from everything and I enjoyed a wonderful prenatal massage.

Milwaukee Baby Shower

My godmother Aunt Denny and cousin Maureen threw us a baby shower in mid-March. We had such a wonderful time and got some very generous gifts.

Me, my Auntie Joy and my mom

Sandra (college friend), myself, Sharon (high school friend). We are all pregnant at the same time with Sharon and Sandra both being due in early September. Definitely don't drink the water around us!

Recent Bump Photos

A few more bump photos that I just downloaded. Not sure how/why but the 33 week photo makes me look like I'm shrinking a bit! That is definitely not the case.

Our First (Fur) Baby

Before Baby Abbey makes an appearance, we do need to post a photo of our first baby Kallie! She doesn't know what she's in for once this little one arrives, but we think she will be a great big sister. This photo was taken as Doug was steam cleaning the carpet in the baby's room so Kallie was blocked out. Out of sheer desperation she laid down on the hard wood stairs and started taking a nap while patiently waiting for her chance in the room again.
