Wearin of the... orange

Today is orange day at school and yes she even has orange nail polish on... very excited about that.  And no Kallie isn't going with her to school she just wanted to model for the picture with her pretty bandana on.  K calls her "dorable" when she wears it.    

 

Catch up post (for Sept)

Haven't posted in a looong time so here's  quick catch up.   After preschool started, we had a very busy fall and a beautiful September.  Went to the apple orchard to celebrate Lilly's 4th birthday on a very warm day.  Everyone had a great time!  

E started having new words every day and below is a video of a few of them.  She also really wanted to walk but didn't feel confident enough on her own to do it.  She used anything and everything available as a walker including a step stool, kiddie shopping cart, books, Kallie - really anything that would slide across the hardwood floors!  

First day of preschool

Drop off went totally fine and only some moist eyes... From mom!

Walking on sunshine

E will be walking any day now but in the meantime she enjoys using anything she can find as a walker!  And K has enjoyed watching the gymnastics in the Olympics with many somersaults and we'll be starting a gymnastics class this fall.

Family reunion in Wisconsin

The Dougans made the long haul up to Wisconsin from Texas and the girls had so much fun playing with their cousins.  Thankfully the weather cooperated and wasn't too crazy hot but was perfect weather for swimming, golf cart rides, swinging and smores!  Hope we can make this a summer tradition because we all enjoyed the time together  so much.

It's my birthday...

E enjoyed her birthday and LOVED the cake!  The cake was such a hit she needed a bath to get all the frosting out of her hair before nap time. 

I'm one!!

Loved my cake... Can't wait for more at my party next weekend.

Cooling off

It has been 100+ degrees for too many days so we finally got to the Barrington pool. K loved it even though it was a quick trip before her afternoon nap.

Happy Fourth!

We grilled out with friends in 102 degrees and had very yummy food including red, white and blue jello... Yum!

One year pictures

We had professional pictures taken of E to celebrate her first year (take a peek!) and they are adorable (but we are a bit biased of course).  It's hard to think that one year ago from this time I was very pregnant, anxiously waiting for baby's arrival, trying to sell our house in the city and then this little nugget ends up arriving early due to preeclampsia.  Our two week visit in the NICU and countless trips to the pediatric endocrinologist for the next three months seem like a bad dream.  E is absolutely a delight and in perfect health.  She follows her sister around everywhere, loves doing everything K does, has started crawling up the stairs, says mama, dada, woof and Elmo and love standing up but not walking yet.

11 months old

Busy little girl who crawls everywhere, is so curious, follows her sister (and dog) everywhere and waves hello.

Betty Crocker

Baking a cake for dad's birthday and the batter is delicious! We puts LOT of sprinkles on it.

She just might walk soon since E always wants to be standing. She is a very quick crawler too!

Smooch!

E is very animated these days and has started communicating a bit with us by waving and using some sign language.  Her latest is to mimic us kissing by doing smooch noises.  So cute!

Driving it home

We are in trouble! K loves driving and continues to tell me she will pull the car in the garage. Great!!

A little privacy please

Summer in March!

The record high yesterday was 81 in March ... Love it but that meant scrambling to find sun hats, sunscreen and cotton pajamas instead of fleece. But we aren't complaining and neither are the girls.

Fun weekend!

We have had the best weather with 60s again! E rode forward in the stroller and went in a swing both for the first time. I went to a fantastic consignment sale and got K a high chair for her baby (among quite a few other toys for the girls and fantastic summer clothes for K).  She was very excited about the high chair after she found out it was for her baby and not E!

Happy 8 month day!

E rolls all over the place, loves laughing, eats all baby food put in front of her, has one tooth with more coming soon and is sleeping through the night yippee! Her hair from the medicine has all fallen out and is a pretty brown which is getting much lighter by the day.

Multi tasker

That's my girl being a multi tasker already! Helpful having an extra set of hands.

Last snow?

Nothing like a 50 degree day following a snowstorm. Perfect for making a snowman!

Sitting pretty

E loves sitting up on her own with the help of some pillows so she doesn't fall. Getting to be such a big girl. And her bottom tooth finally broke through but she won't let us in there much!

Oh and don't you love the sunglasses?! Gymboree is too much fun!

Who needs TV when your child finally figures out the Jumparoo... could be hours of entertainment and it gives them quite a workout!  Those chubby legs could use one too. :)  I love to munch on them!
