Do we dare say the "d" word?

Today our neonatal nurse actually started talking to us about discharge and everything we need to do before we take E home. I hate to jinx things by discussing the "d" word but it is a positive sign. She is currently receiving only 2.8 mL/hour of glucose solution and her blood sugar levels have continued to be good. We are required to watch two videos (car seat safety and shaken baby syndrome) and take a 30 minute CPR class. I swear leaving the NICU is more challenging then simply leaving the hospital with the baby! But interesting information either way I guess and at this point I'll do whatever they want to take Elizabeth home. However, I know I'll be a total nervous nelly for awhile watching her every breath and making sure her levels are high enough. Not sure how often per day we'll be testing her blood or how often she will receive her medication. Right now they test her sugars every 3 hours and she's getting medicine every 8 hours. We'll see if that stays the same for home.

After spending hours in the NICU just holding her and rocking and staring at our beautiful baby, I had to take some pictures and captured these today. Ahh don't they look peaceful sleeping?

Here she's thinking "yeah I might get to go home soon and meet this sister and dog my mom and dad keep telling me about!"

This picture is pretty much our day today (she must be going through a growth spurt) because she ate literally all day and this is the face she gives me when she's hungry. She's now weighing in at 6 pounds, 7.9 ounces. Growing indeed!
